kiriboshi en cocotte.

February 1st, 2008

The good thing about having to only feed myself is that I can live on things like rice and kiriboshi daikon (uber stinky sun-dried daikon).  Although now I think I’ve figured out a way to maybe get the hub to eat it - I’ll have to test it out next week.

p.s. Hub claims he is amazed by my “sudden football aptitude” (hello, wishful thinking!) - but when I find myself giving him reasons why the Patriots are an ‘unlikable team’ (over the phone at 10am, nonethless), it makes me go hmmmmm.

Okay, back to the food.

And in case you get immense satisfaction out of destroying pretty little things…

KIRIBOSHI DAIKON EN COCOTTE.

Ingredients: (Serves 1)

2 tbs Kiriboshi Daikon (follow instructions on package to prepare)
1 egg
½ tsp unsalted butter
Freshly ground pepper

Fill ramekin with kiriboshi daikon.  Add an egg, and top with butter.  Cover ramekin with foil and place in a water bath.  Set oven to 350F and bake for about 20 min; let the eggs set for 10 min, out of the oven, before serving.  Serve with freshly ground pepper.

The hype that is Vampire Weekend really, really annoys me - but they sing about Cape Cod.  And I’m pretty sure I’d rather stay in Cape Cod than move to New Jersey.
